More Than a Health Shop: Why I Created The Little Health Shop

Opening The Little Health Shop in Matlock Bath has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
I wanted to create the kind of place I think is missing in many communities: somewhere you can walk in, look at natural health products and supplements, but also ask questions and get some genuine guidance.
Because buying supplements can be incredibly confusing.
People walk into shops or search online and are faced with hundreds of products, all promising something different. Magnesium alone can come in several different forms. Probiotics aren't all the same. Herbal remedies need to be chosen for the individual, and taking more supplements does not necessarily mean getting better results.
I wanted the shop to be somewhere people could have a conversation rather than simply pick up another bottle and hope for the best.
Carefully Chosen, Not Just Filling Shelves
I don't want to stock something simply because it's fashionable.
There are endless health trends, new miracle ingredients and expensive products appearing all the time. My approach has always been to come back to the foundations of health and ask whether something genuinely has a useful place.
At the shop, you'll find high-quality vitamins and supplements, herbal and natural remedies, organic foods and carefully selected wellbeing products.
The aim isn't to have thousands of random products on shelves. It's to offer useful choices and help people understand what may be appropriate for them.
Health Support Should Feel Approachable
One of the reasons I wanted a physical shop was because not everyone wants to book a full consultation before asking a simple question.
Sometimes someone just wants to know which form of magnesium might suit them, whether there is a natural product that could support sleep, or what the difference is between several supplements they've seen online.
Of course, some health problems need a much deeper investigation, and a conversation in a shop is not the same as a full nutritional consultation. But there is a huge space between receiving no guidance at all and needing a complete programme.
I want people to feel comfortable coming in and asking.
And Yes, You Can Come in Just for Coffee and Cake
Health doesn't need to feel clinical.
The Little Health Shop also has organic speciality coffee, herbal teas and homemade cakes, with outside seating where you can sit and take some time out.
For me, wellbeing isn't about living under a set of impossible rules or becoming frightened of everything you eat.
It's about making better choices more often, understanding your body and enjoying your life at the same time.
So yes, you can come in to talk about supplements and stay for cake.
Can't Get to Matlock Bath?
If you're not local, or you've visited the shop and want to reorder something later, you can also shop online.
Go to my Sara Jane Health & Nutrition website and select the Shop tab.
I'm continuing to add products to the online shop, so customers who visit me in Matlock Bath can reorder from home and people further away can access the products too.
